Mission Living

Verse of the Week

Matthew 5:14-15   “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven..”

Ephisians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Weekly Message

Every believer has been called to be a missionary in our present-day role. You may be a student, teacher, mechanic, businessman, nurse, family member, etc.  Your role in life is your mission field.  It does not matter what you do because you have been called to be a witness.

There are many parts to our life: professionally, interests(hobbies), family, worship, and serving.  In each area of your life, you are performing a mission to shine the love of Jesus to those your life impacts. As employees, we should walk with integrity and have a spirit of excellence in our workplace. As a Father, we should not exasperate our children. Instead, we should show gentle love and patience as we guide them in their daily lives. Our interests and hobbies often have us in the company of others as well. People are watching how you handle a missed golf shot, a fish that broke the line, or any competition where you didn’t achieve your desired outcome.

When we think about our mission as a believer, Jesus has called us to be a light on a hill, an example for others, a point of truth and all of this to share the Gospel of Jesus.  Every role that we play is our mission field.

Weekly prayer

Jesus, I thank you that you have included us in spreading the gospel and that you have called us to be a light for the world.  By calling us, you also enable us through the Holy Spirit as we grow closer to you.  I ask that you continue to kindle the mission role in our lives and show us your plans for us.  Give us wisdom and a desire to be used by you and to share who you are and what you have done for us.  Help us to see and step into the opportunities that you give us.  In Jesus’ name and for His glory, Amen

What do you see as your spiritual mission?

To be the Lords ambassador in my home, at my assigned place of serving and while out in the market place to bring them the good news.

To encourage and disciple those in my area of influence.

Are you willing to stretch beyond your comfort zone to be a witness?

Yes! Where ever I go throughout the day I need to pay attention to the opportunities around me, to minister, it is the Lord who directs my steps, so we need to pay attention to who He brings across my path.

In what way?

Getting out of my comfort zone!

So I can fully depend on the Lord to help me instead…

What do you see as your spiritual mission? I believe my mission is to live a life that makes Christ known and to be available to the Holy Spirit to help reconcile relationship with the Father to those He gives grace and space to.

Are you willing to stretch beyond your comfort zone to be a witness?  In what way? Yes by all means. But from glory to glory and faith to faith I am discovering that comfort zones are broken and develop as often as we grow. So keeping my heart before God to discern what part of that process I’m in is key.

I am willing to stretch for me it is in the choice of choosing…

As of right now i believe that my spiritual mission is to mentor others with my testimony and show Christ in my life. (Rev 12:11)

If i am being led by Christ, then am sure am able to stretch outside of my comfort zone with abiding and prayer to step outside of myself to reach a life that is void of Christ. If am embarrassed to show Christ, then am a-shame of who He is

The net step is to continue to maintain in the word of God, learn to give Him more time than i am right now. (Matthew 15:31)

What do you see as your spiritual mission? I believe my mission is to continue to be a light and show God's Love to everyone that I encounter because I believe when people see reactions other than what the world shows, it gives them a beacon of hope. They may not understand your reactions or words, but it comes from love. Galatians 6:9 Let us not grow weary in well-doing, for in due time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

Are you willing to stretch beyond your comfort zone to be a witness?  In what way? Yes, I am willing to be stretched beyond my comfort zone. I want God to take control, because the…

Love the first two answers and the conviction in them. Love the last one and its transparency. I pray that your intimacy with the Holy Spirit causes you to hear and know His leading like never before.
